Certified SOBs
Anyone who attends a mob (meeting) of the Sherlockians of Baltimore is considered to be a member. A person attending two mobs is issued a membership card and is thereafter known as a “Card-carrying SOB.” The 21 people who attended the inaugural mob on May 9, 2016 are additionally known as “Original SOBs.”
There are three ways to become a Certified SOB – give a presentation, lead a story discussion, or prepare a quiz. Members taking on one of these challenges are rewarded with an investiture of their own choosing. While many Holmes groups issue investitures, they are usually based on the Sherlockian Canon. Investitures in the Sherlockians of Baltimore, however, are based on a connection to Baltimore or Maryland – e.g., famous citizens, places, or events associated with the area.
