Welcome to The Fourth Garrideb , a society of coin collectors and numismatists who are also fans of Sherlock Holmes.
We were organized on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Chicago, Illinois during the 123rd anniversary convention of the American Numismatic Association.
Our name is based on Arthur Conan Doyle’s story The Adventure of the Three Garridebs, which has a few numismatic connections in the story.
We hope to have this site up and running by October 1st at the latest. Lifetime membership will be a one-time fee of $22.10, to cover costs of the membership certificate and a Garrideb decadrachm. Those joining by February 9, 2015 will be considered Charter members “of the Alexandrian school.” Founding Charter members who joined at our organizational meeting are considered Syracusan members – “of the best period.”
