The Great Dantini

Vincent Cierkes was born in Fells Point in 1900 and became enthralled with magic at an early

age. Combining the names of Dante with his idol of Harry Houdini (who he once borrowed $7

from and never repaid), Dantini is mostly remembered for his daily magic shows at the Peabody

Bookshop and Beer Stube for over 12 years until his passing in 1979, and his documentary film

Our Baltimore. Dan, like Dantini, also has an interest in magic and Harry Houdini.
